PARENT/GUARDIAN

I/We pledge to provide positive support, care, and encouragement for my child/children participating in youth sports.
I/We will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, and officials at every game, practice or other youth sport event.
I/We will place the emotional and physical well being of my child/children ahead of my personal desire to win.
I/We will insist that my child/children play in a safe and healthy environment.
I/We will support coaches and officials working with my child/children, in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.
I/We will remember that the game is for youths – not adults.
I/We will do my very best to make WCLA youth sports fun for my child/children.
I/We will instruct my child/children to treat other players, coaches, fans, and officials with respect regardless of race, sex, creed or ability.
I/We will help my child/children enjoy the WCLA youth sports experience by doing whatever I/We can, such as being a respectful fan, assisting with coaching, or providing transportation.
I/We will inform friends and relatives of this code of ethics when they are in attendance to any WCLA practice, game or event.

YOUTH PLAYER

I/We will display a respectful and positive attitude towards my teammates, coaches, and associates of WCLA and all officials at all times.
I/We will respect and encourage my teammates through positive interaction and encourage a positive lacrosse experience.
I/We will respect my coaches, and demonstrate a positive attitude towards their coaching and teaching the fundamentals of youth lacrosse.
I/We respect all rules, officials, while participating in the WCLA program.
I/We will participate in practices, games, team functions in order to help the team, to enhance team performance and respectability in sportsmanship and effort on the field.
I/We strive to give our best effort in, practice, games, tournaments, etc.
I/We understand lacrosse is a team sport, in order to achieve positive achievements, attendance, positive attitude, desire, and teamwork are necessary.

COACH/ASSISTANT COACH

I will place the emotional and physical well being of my players ahead of personal desire to win.
I will treat each player as an individual, remembering the large range of emotional and physical development for the same age group.
I will do my best to provide a safe playing situation for my players.
I will do my best to organize practices that are fun and challenging for all my players.
I will lead by example in demonstrating fair play and sportsmanship to all my players.
I will be knowledgeable in the rules of each sport that I coach and will teach these rules to my players.
I will use those coaching techniques appropriate for all of the skills that I teach.
I will remember that I am a youth sports coach and that the game is for the children and not the adults.

As a member of the West Chester Lacrosse Association (WCLA) family, I acknowledge that any violation(s) to this Code of Ethics can result in a suspension or expulsion from the West Chester Lacrosse Association.
